The Symbol

This is a sea slug. It floats upside-down on the ocean's surface, feeding on Portuguese man o' wars and other venomous jellyfish. When it consumes their venom, it doesn't die—it concentrates the toxins in its own tissues and becomes more dangerous than its prey.

I become what I consume.

This creature embodies the central idea behind everything on this site: you are not fixed. What you take in—the ideas, the experiences, the challenges—transforms you. The question is whether you're consuming intentionally or by accident.

Why This Creature

The Glaucus exhibits something rare in nature: what looks like agency. It chooses what to consume. It modulates its own toxicity based on its diet. It floats upside-down, showing its blue belly to the sky (camouflage from birds) and its silver back to the depths (camouflage from fish). It controls how it's perceived from multiple directions simultaneously.

This maps directly to what I write about:

• Intentional transformation — You turn experience into power, or you let it turn you into something you didn't choose.
