Deacon Santiago

I spent quite a bit of time getting a PhD in genetics and enjoyed the process but didn't like the practice. Eventually, I came to realize that what I really just enjoy is understanding the systems around problems and then putting action towards reinventing what the outcomes could be. I love getting messy in a malleable reality.

So now, I do whatever catches my interest. I don't do very well relaxing or consuming things. I have a constant craving to be building, to be taking what is internal and making it extra. Often times, this is things like writing, or when I learned metal working just so I could make my engagement ring with the help of modern frontier models. It's now turned to creating quite a bit of software and understanding how to change my own life and potentially lives of others through this incredible access to intelligence.

Up to this point, I've co-founded biotech companies, helped commercialize university technologies into startups, and closed $2M+ in funding. I've written three books and put out a plethora of essays, articles, videos, podcasts, and interviews. I've also been a bartender, a voice actor, a life coach, and was both a rugby player and a member of the chorus in college.

I love to write about the parts of personal development most people avoid talking about: self-defined purpose, positive masculinity, and learning to get tough with yourself. The books came from a decade of building frameworks for myself, and are all available for free.
